Terry Toland

Rider & Organizer

Terry has been riding bicycles since the age of 4.  At 64, he  intends  to continue cycling until  his "spleen falls out"or "the

hair from his ears gets tangled in
his spokes“.   About this ride, Toland says "This ride is about raising awareness of ALS and raising funds to assist those in need.  ALS is a cruel disease and has taken too many people in my sphere”
Terry decided 0ver 15 years ago that by combining his passion for cycling with
his passion for helping others, he is able to amplify the positive impact on the community.  The knowledge that every pedal stroke and wheel rotation is
moving him toward a community goal makes the inevitable pain of the journey much easier to live with.
In 2010, he decided to use his love of cycling to benefit others.  He organized a ride from Canada to Mexico and topped $10,000 in sponsorships and donations from his caring community in Vancouver, WA as well as from those he met on the road.
He and three other riders carried the message of ending hunger in Clark County down the West Coast.  In 2021 he again organized  the Border to Bay benefit ride from Canada to San Francisco.  This was during COVID days and he ended up riding solo, but managed to raise $14,000 for a local food pantry. A pantry that was also struggling during COVID.

This ride Blaine to Maine may be another solo adventure due to the extreme length of 4,200 miles.

Diane Toland

Van Driver & Ride Support

Diane also loves cycling. She says she always “feels like a kid” when she is on two wheels however, on this event, like the other two big rides, she will be managing logistics and driving the support van. Diane has been very active in the community volunteering with Villages Clark County, Rotary, Traveling Day Society as well as the Trauma Intervention Program.  Diane is a “massage miracle-worker” whose skills will be called upon to reduce lactic acid and sore muscles of the rider.
